Lucent W1 stands as a testament to sustainable design and urban regeneration. Situated behind London’s iconic Piccadilly Lights, this transformative project reimagines a heritage building into a vibrant workspace that harmonises nature and innovation. A sprawling 110,000 square feet of offices unfolds around a central atrium, bathing the space in natural light and fostering a sense of community.

The Brief

At the heart of this ambitious project lay a specific challenge: 150 high-specification Epicore+ doors with through-colour laminate and rebated frames. The design demanded high quality, oversized doors, pushing the boundaries of traditional solutions. DorSuite had to develop a doorset solution that satisfied the architect's design, complied with environmental regulations, and was fully certified. In addition, the project required exceptional flexibility in delivery, including compliance with FORS Silver delivery requirements for central London. To ensure complete alignment, DorSuite hosted a team from Fletcher Priest Architects, and the joinery sub-contractor, SE Carpentry, at its manufacturing facility in North Wales for an in-depth overview of the production process.

The Solution

DorSuite’s technical expertise and extensive fire certification was pivotal in addressing the unique challenges posed by Lucent W1’s door requirements, where a large quantity of the doorsets were oversized. By combining in-depth knowledge of the Epicore+ technical certification with a collaborative approach, we developed a bespoke solution that fully met the architect’s vision.

Our team worked closely with Fletcher Priest Architects, Wates, and SE Carpentry to refine the doorset and ironmongery package, ensuring it met the necessary performance standards while maintaining the desired aesthetic.

The project demanded precise logistical planning due to the size and weight of the doorsets. DorSuite’s experienced delivery team ensured the smooth, phased delivery of all doorsets, minimising disruption to the construction site.
