In the heart of Edinburgh, a new architectural gem has emerged. The W Edinburgh Hotel, offers breathtaking castle views from its prime location in the bustling St James' Quarter, spanning 10 storeys and including a Sushisamba Restaurant, a Recording Studio, Spa, Meeting Rooms and a Panoramic Roof Terrace. When faced with the task of outfitting this prestigious establishment, the project team turned to DorSuite. The result? Over 900 meticulously crafted doorsets with a variety of finishes, delivered within a demanding four-month timeframe.

The Brief

As DorSuite joined the project, we encountered a unique situation. The original design team had moved on, leaving a potential gap between vision and implementation. This scenario called for more than just manufacturing prowess; it demanded a collaborative spirit and adaptability.

Recognising the need for seamless integration, DorSuite spearheaded a collaborative effort. Working closely with BAM Construction Ltd (the main contractor), Linear Projects Ltd. (the sub-contractor), the architects, and Keppie (the new design team), DorSuite facilitated open lines of communication. This approach ensured that design intricacies were understood and addressed, bridging the gap between concept and creation.

The Solution

DorSuite's response to the W Edinburgh project showcases our versatility and attention to detail. The hotel required a wide array of doorset finishes, including laminates, panelling, stains, paint finishes, and various ironmongery options. Each element needed to seamlessly integrate while adhering to strict fire safety and soundproofing standards.

Rising to the challenge, DorSuite not only met these requirements but exceeded expectations by:

• Implementing a rigorous production schedule under Workshop Manager Alan Little

• Delivering a consistent flow of high-calibre doorsets within the tight four-month window
